Make your order sustainable with your pocket change.

Take a small step towards making a big change! As part of The Mustard Dandelion's continued mission to reduce our global impact, we've partnered with EcoCart so that going forward every order can now ship carbon neutral! But what does this mean?

What is carbon neutral?

This means that we will eliminate, capture, or otherwise mitigate all of the carbon emissions created from sourcing our products and shipping them to your door.

What does it mean to mitigate or offset emissions?

For any carbon emissions released into our atmosphere as a result of sourcing and shipping items at The Mustard Dandelion, we invest in projects that reduce carbon emissions by the same amount. It’s almost like we’re giving the planet an IOU, then immediately paying it back.

How does it work?

Each time someone uses the carbon neutral option at checkout, we will automatically purchase verified emissions reductions, more commonly known as “offsets”, and in turn these purchases support environmental projects.

Why is this important?

The Mustard Dandelion has always been conscious of our impact and is always actively working to better the planet and lighten the negative impact that our actions have the best that we can. We believe that if we all work together towards positive change that we can make the world a cleaner, healthier place by reducing our carbon footprint.

What is a carbon footprint?

A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide and methane) that are generated and influenced positively or negatively by our everyday actions and activities, like driving a car, flying in an airplane, using the clothes dryer, what foods we eat, or even just leaving the lights on in a room.

Did you know?

The average carbon footprint for a person in the United States is 16 tons, one of the highest rates in the world. Globally, the average carbon footprint is closer to 4 tons. To have the best chance of avoiding a 2℃ rise in global temperatures, the average global carbon footprint per year needs to drop to under 2 tons by 2050. Lowering individual carbon footprints from 16 tons to 2 tons doesn’t happen overnight! By making small changes in our actions, like eating less meat, taking fewer connecting flights and line-drying our clothes (for a few examples) we can start making a big difference.

How can I help?

Every day in the U.S. alone, e-commerce packages travel about the same distance as going to the moon and back...133,000 times!

However, for about 1-2% of the total of your order (pocket change, really!) we’ve empowered you to offset the environmental impact of your order packaging and transport with just the check of a box. This money is then allocated to world-changing sustainability projects on your behalf.

The Mustard Dandelion & EcoCart have chosen to partner with the conservation efforts of The Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor Project in Southwest Australia:

The Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor is a high impact reforestation project that works to restore native species of vegetation and provide safe refuge for various flora and fauna, while at the same time removing carbon from the atmosphere. The Yarra Yarra Corridor was once an area of vibrant woodlands, but with the arrival of Europeans in the early 1900s approximately 97% of the vegetation had been cleared for traditional farming practices. Now, due to problem soils and a drying climate, parts of the landscape are not suitable for traditional agriculture and the loss of habitat has also caused native species to be under threat. The restoration project began in 2008, and since then more than 30 million mixed native species of trees and shrubs have been planted across almost 14,000 hectares (approximately 34,595 acres)!
