What is the meaning behind the name 'The Mustard Dandelion'?
Glad you asked! In short - it was mostly grabbed out of thin air and adopted because we liked the way it sounds. To expand a little though, mustard yellow is one of our favorite colors and we've always loved dandelions. Living in Ohio our parks and fields are often blanketed with these cheerful and pretty "weeds"!
Is The Mustard Dandelion green/sustainable?
Yes! The Mustard Dandelion is a "green" company, and therefore recycled materials are used in shipping as much as possible with hopefully more zero-waste packaging coming soon. Breakables are most often padded with bubble wrap and then packed in newspaper or printed ads, but rest assured that your actual item will not come into contact with the newspaper directly since items themselves are either wrapped in tissue paper or placed into boxes (sometimes both!) so as to not to dirty the item with newsprint. I encourage my customers to then reuse or recycle those packing materials that they receive. In order to cut down on paper waste we also do not include packing slips, but all order information can easily be found on your emailed invoice at the time of purchase or accessed in your account on themustarddandelion.com. I have allergies/asthma/chemical sensitivities. Will my items come from a smoke-free, pet-free, or scent-free environment?
All items come from a smoke-free, chemical-free, and pet-friendly environment.
We do not use chemical cleaners, perfumes or scented lotions, air fresheners, or similar products of any kind. With that said, most of our items are vintage or pre-owned and could have lingering scents or odors from previous owners or locations, and if these exist they are noted as much as possible in the item descriptions. All products are cleaned, dusted, inspected and ironed upon receipt, before getting photographed, and again when we pull them to pack up for an order, so all scents are therefore kept to a minimum. Please keep in mind though that packages can pick up scents in transit by postal workers at any point in their journey.
We do have one "shop" cat but she is terrible at wrapping so we don't usually ask her for her help! Our products are stored in a room that she does not have access to, but since cat hair can possibly be transferred from our clothing please let us know before or at checkout if you have allergies or sensitivities to cats and we will take extra precautions.

How can I tell if an item is Vintage, New, or Pre-Loved?
The Mustard Dandelion carries a wide variety of items and this information can be found in both the title and description of every product in the store.
"Vintage" is anything that is 20 years old or more.
"New" is a product or item that is still in its original packaging and/or with its original tags, or is new without tags and has never been worn, washed, or used.
"Pre-Loved" refers to a newer item (less than 20 years old) that may have been worn or used before.
Please keep in mind that all "New" clothing items come from my personal closet and may have been tried on but have never been washed or worn in order to still be able to classify them as "New". Please read all item listing information and view all photos for detailed descriptions of any specifics regarding the classification of an item.
Stock photos from items originally purchased at Anthropologie, Modcloth, and other retailers are included on the listings to show proof of purchase from that store, shop, or website. The Mustard Dandelion does not claim or take ownership, credit, or license with any of these photos and all remain untouched and unedited by The Mustard Dandelion.
How can I tell if this item is the right size or if it will fit me?

An item I love is now marked as "sold out". Will you be restocking it?
The Mustard Dandelion specializes in vintage pieces and typically only ONE of that item is ever in stock, so if you see something you love it's best to grab it while you can! Clothing items in the store are also only stocked in the size that is listed and also typically only have one item or one size in stock unless otherwise noted. The clothing and shoes in the store are mostly from my personal closet, which explains the limited sizing options on these pieces.
Can you create something similar to this piece for me?
We specialize in vintage items as well as newer clothing and accessory pieces from an assortment of brands. Since nothing in the store was created by anyone at The Mustard Dandelion, unfortunately we are not able to alter any item or create anything new to sell that is similar to a style that we already carry or that you may be on the hunt for.
Why can't I find an item that I saw advertised on Google, Pinterest, etc?
You can check the search function located at the top of our shop pages to find an item that you saw or to find a specific or similar item. However, many of our products only have one in stock, so it's possible that the item you're looking for has already sold out.
Pricing & Payments:
Do you offer bulk discounts or reduced pricing upon request?
We do not offer bulk discounts or reduced pricing due to requests or volume purchases.
Free US shipping is offered on all items though, which is a great savings to our customers!
What types of payments do you accept?
We accept American Express, Apple Pay, Diner's Club, Discover, Elo, Google Pay, JCB, MasterCard, PayPal, Shop Pay, Venmo, and Visa.
What are your coupon and promo code policies?
Only one coupon or promo code can be used per order. Promo codes and coupons exclude gift cards and items on sale or clearance, specialty items, or items marked as "Final Sale". Discounts and coupons cannot be applied to previous orders.
What does "Final Sale" mean?
"Final Sale" refers to items that are ineligible for returns or refunds of any kind. This applies to items on sale or clearance, intimate items (such as personal care products or lingerie), and special occasion clothing or accessories, which includes wedding dresses and bridal accessories, formal wear, or items that would or could be considered costumes or costume accessories.
Do you price match for the same or similar items found elsewhere?
No, we do not price match exact or similar items of any kind. Most of our items are vintage and likely one of a kind, and a lot of vintage pieces age or wear differently as well.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes! Gift cards are for sale in the 'Gift Cards' section here and are available in several monetary increments. Please contact us at email@example.com if you need a gift card in an amount that is not available on the site.
How do I purchase a gift card?
Simply add it to your cart and complete checkout. You can then print out the digital gift card and mail it or drop it off to your recipient, or send it to them as an attachment through email.
I've lost my gift card - can I get a replacement?
Unfortunately gift cards cannot be replaced. We recommend keeping it in a safe place until you're ready to use it, or keep a digital copy by taking a photo of the necessary information or typing it into a notes-type App.
How long do I have to use my gift card?
Gift cards can be used at any time as they do not expire.
Do you offer a student discount?
At this time we do not offer any student or military discounts.
Do you offer price adjustments if a sale occurs after I purchase the item?
As a business we're constantly changing prices due to the seasons, inventory demand and stock, and a variety of other reasons. Unfortunately once an item has been purchased we are unable to refund the price difference.

Do I need to create an account to place an order?
Yes - at this time guest checkout is not available, but fortunately it is quick and easy to set up an account for purchasing. The information provided in your account is only used to fulfill and ship your orders and send our company newsletter if you choose to opt in to that service. Is it safe to order from this site?
The Mustard Dandelion is hosted by Shopify, an online website builder that hosts thousands of stores worldwide. We are SSL certified and accept 12 different forms of payment that are all supported through Shopify. Additionally, you can view The Mustard Dandelion on Etsy (where it all started!) by clicking here, where we have nearly 7,000 orders since first opening in 2013 and thousands of positive reviews (which can be found here.)
When will my order ship?
Orders are packed and shipped within 1-3 business days of receipt and typically given to the post office on the following business day.
When will my order arrive?
Orders are shipped via USPS and with the most economical service for that product - First Class (2-5 business days) for smaller or lighter items, Media Mail (2-8 business days) for books, music and papers, and Priority Mail (1-3 business days) for larger or heavier items. Shipping upgrades can be purchased at checkout, which will expedite your order from shipping First Class or Media Mail to Priority Mail. Along with changing the shipping to a faster method, purchasing a shipping upgrade will also move your order to the front of the queue and we will get it packed and shipped sooner than the standard 1-3 business days. ("Business days" refers to Monday-Friday and excludes all national and banking holidays where the mail service is not in operation.)
It's been a while and my order still hasn't shown up. What do I do?
Please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with your full name and order number and we'll look into it! It's a very rare occurrence, but please note that according to the USPS website that packages will not be considered lost until non-delivery after 30 days from the ship date for domestic orders and 75 days for international. Refunds will not be issued prior to these time periods, and after the 30 or 75 days a Lost Package Claim will then be filed with the USPS.
Can I place items on hold?
Items cannot be placed on hold or reserved either in part or in full at this time.
I made a mistake. Can I edit my order, add or remove an item, change my shipping address or apply a discount after my order is completed?
Unfortunately orders cannot be altered in any way by the customer after checkout is complete. If you have any questions or issues with an order that has been placed, please contact us at email@example.com prior to receiving a shipping confirmation email. Once an order has been marked as "shipped" no adjustments or cancellations can be made by anyone at The Mustard Dandelion.
Do you offer local pickup?
No, at this time we do not offer any pickup options.
What shipping methods do you offer? Is tracking available?
Currently we only ship using USPS (United States Postal Service). For both local and international orders we use First Class, Media Mail, and Priority Mail. Tracking numbers are provided for ALL orders. You can track your order here once the tracking number has been uploaded and sent.
Are customs/duties/VAT taxes covered by The Mustard Dandelion?
No - international buyers are responsible for all customs and/or value added tax (VAT) fees. Import duties and related fees and/or taxes are not included in the item price or shipping charges. Buyers are responsible for knowing and accepting their country's regulations and all related fees on international purchases. Please do not purchase something that is prohibited from import in that particular country or region on the receiver's end. All customs forms will declare the full value of the package contents as well as the true contents of the package. Once an order is shipped we have no control over added VAT fees or delays or any confiscation at customs. Orders returned due to refusal of fee payment will be issued a refund for the item price only minus a 15% restocking fee. Any original shipping charges will not be refunded. In order to receive the refund the item must be returned in its original state with no alterations of any kind or any damages.
I never received an order confirmation email. What do I do?
In the event that you do not receive an order confirmation email, it could be because the order was never actually placed or processed, or there may be an incorrect or different email address associated with the order. Please check your spam folder and if a confirmation still cannot be found, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How much does shipping cost?
Free shipping is offered on all items shipped within the US, and shipping to Canada is $13.00 and up depending on the size and weight of the item. You can check the specific shipping costs of items sent to Canada prior to purchase by adding the item(s) to your cart.
Do you ship globally?
Due to COVID-19 and other factors in the US and in other countries there have been significant delays in delivery times overseas and currently we are only shipping within the US and Canada. We're hoping to be able to return to offering international shipping soon, and we apologize for any inconvenience in the meantime! What is the "Carbon Neutral Order" line item in my cart? What does it mean?
Thanks to a partnership with EcoCart and a reforestation project in Australia, The Mustard Dandelion now offers you the option of making all of your orders carbon neutral (which is great for the planet!) for the cost of around 1-2% of the items in your cart, which typically amounts to pocket change. Returns & Refunds:
I received a damaged item / the wrong item, what do I do?
Don't fret! Please contact us immediately upon receipt of your order at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll be happy to help correct the situation. For damages, please send a photo or two of the damaged item and the original shipping box or envelope along with your message. Also, please keep and do not throw away either the damaged item or the original packaging. For the wrong item received, please send a photo of everything that was in your package and please keep all items and the original packaging as well.
I'm missing something from my order, what do I do?
Don't fret! Please contact us immediately upon receipt of your order at email@example.com and we'll be happy to help correct the issue. Please send a photo of any and all items that you received in the package and please keep all items and the original packaging as well.
What is your return policy?
To start a return, please contact us by sending a message to firstname.lastname@example.org within 21 days of delivery. If your return is approved, additional instructions will then be sent to advise on how to return the item(s) and the address to send them to. Returns should be mailed within 7 days of return approval. Shipping cost to return the item is the responsibility of the buyer and a refund of the purchase price (minus the original shipping charges paid by the customer for international orders or paid by The Mustard Dandelion for items that shipped for free within the United States) will be made promptly once the item has been received by us. To be eligible for a return, your returned item(s) must be in the same condition it was when it was shipped and must not be worn, washed, scented, altered, or damaged in any way. An additional 15% restocking fee may apply for returned items. (Please contact us with any questions about the restocking fee and/or its application prior to starting a return online). You MUST send a notification to email@example.com prior to returning and/or shipping the item back in order for us to process - items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted or refunded. Do you supply return labels?
Yes, we can supply a return shipping label for a fee, depending on the item being returned and the weight, size, distance, and fragility of the item. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for further details and instructions.
Can I return something using my own shipping method or label?
Yes! If you prefer to use a different carrier, it is recommended to return an item using a label that offers a tracking number, and it is also recommended to ship the item back insured. Return shipping insurance is to be paid by the buyer returning the item(s) as you are responsible for the package while the item is in transit.
Do you offer exchanges?
Currently we do not offer exchanges, only returns and refunds for qualifying items.
How can I check my return status?
Once we receive a return shipment, package contents are inspected and refunds are issued within 1-3 business days. Please note that once we issue the refund it may take a few hours and up to a few days to show up on your end, depending on the original method of payment used.
Can I return a gift?
Yes! In order to return a gift, you would need to get in touch with the person who purchased the gift and have them contact us for the notification of a return and the return shipping instructions at email@example.com. Please note that all returns will be refunded back onto the original method of payment, however in the instance of a gift return we are able to offer a gift card in the refund amount to the recipient instead if you wish.
Will my original shipping costs be refunded? What about my return shipping label fee?
Original shipping charges (if applicable) are only refunded if an item arrives damaged. If items are returned by a customer for any other reason the shipping cost is deducted from the refund. Items that ship for free and that are returned for any reason other than damage will have that cost deducted from the refund total as well and range from $4.00 and up. Shipping costs are determined by the size and weight of the shipping package, how fragile an item is, the insurance costs, and the distance that the package travels.
Please note that we do not refund original shipping charges or return shipping charges on orders that are returned due to fit/size, or because an item was smaller or larger than the buyer originally thought. Measurements are provided on ALL listings to properly inform the buyer of sizes and items are also often photographed in or next to the photographer's hands as an additional reference of the size and scale. Original shipping and return shipping charges will also not be refunded if the buyer neglects to read the entire listing title and description and/or doesn't view all of the photos included in the listing, as this is the buyer's responsibility to do prior to purchase. The photographs are considered to be part of the listing description and will give a more detailed view of what you're purchasing, so please view all photos prior to completing your order. Please note that computer monitors can vary and an item might appear a slightly different color in person than the photo or your computer monitor might suggest and that some photos on listings are brightened or otherwise edited to show details of the item. Please ask any questions regarding size, measurements, item description, details, condition, or capacity prior to purchase and we will be happy to get the right information to you if it isn't already included in the listing details.
In the event that an item is being returned due to an error on the part of The Mustard Dandelion we will provide you with a return shipping label and you will not be charged any fees for that label.
