Beautiful vintage tapestry purse or carpetbag is a top-handle handbag with an all over brocade pattern in shades of brown, green, and gold velvety fabric with black faux leather trim. The frame bag has gold hardware and a gold metal (possibly brass) closure at the top and a single strap handle with four gold brass feet on the bottom. The inside is lined with black fabric and has a main compartment, smaller compartment, and a zippered compartment in between them. The tag reads "Made in Spain Expressly for The May Co". There are some signs of wear to the inside of the bag and the handles as well as the lining that are consistent with age and/or use. Also, the zipper pull on the inside pocket is missing but is an easy fix with the right replacement piece and there are two small stains on the outside of the purse near and on the bottom (please see all photos), but it's in overall excellent vintage condition and is large enough to hold all of your essentials!
Measures 12" long x 3.75" wide x 8.5" tall (including brass closure) and opens to approximately 5" wide.
Strap drop is 6".
Please note: we have many purses and other vintage accessories stored together. Without realizing it a purse with a slight powdery scent was put in with the other items and unfortunately the scent has spread to a few of them. The purses have been cleaned and were aired out for a while, and all items were then stored inside their own individual sealed plastic bags to help prevent this from happening again. However, even with cleaning and airing out some items may still have a slight scent to them. This doesn't affect the overall use of the item; it's just something that needs to be mentioned as a precaution for those with sensitivities or allergies.
All items come from a smoke-free, chemical-free, and pet-friendly environment. We do have one shop cat but she is terrible at wrapping so we don’t usually ask her for her help! Our inventory is also stored in a room that she does not have access to, but since cat hair can possibly be transferred from our clothing please let us know if you have allergies or sensitivities to cats and we will take extra precautions.
