Rare vintage glass Gypsy Pot toothpick holder by Degenhart is a unique orange slag glass color called "Bloody Mary" that is very hard to find! The toothpick holder has a round bead rim, textured details and three feet. The bottom of the inside is stamped with the Degenhart logo, a letter "D" inside a heart. Also known as the "Witches' Pot" or "Kettle" toothpick holder, it was first introduced in 1962 and was a reproduction of a 1903 toothpick holder made by the U.S. Glass Company in Gas City, Indiana. The mould originally belonged to B&P Lamp of McMinnville, Tennessee. After a dispute, the mould was returned to its owner and Mrs. Degenhart then had a similar mould made in 1971 without the side handles (called lugs) as seen here. The Gypsy Pot was not stamped with the logo until 1972 though. Excellent vintage condition and perfect for holding toothpicks, cotton swabs, matches, cocktail picks, or makeup brushes. A rare and hard to find piece, especially in this color! Please note that we have two of these in stock, so the one you receive may vary slightly in pattern from the one shown in the photos.
